Motorcycles have a higher rate of accidents. The rate of fatality with motorcycle is also higher. A majority of these accidents involve a motorcycle with a passenger vehicle. In many of these types of accidents, the motorcycle right of way has been found to be violated by the other vehicle. The remaining are single vehicle accidents where it does not involve another vehicles. These single vehicle accidents are usually due to rider error. This include fall due to over-breaking, slide-out, under-cornering or running wide on a curve due to over speeding. There is also small number of instances where vehicle failure such as a puncture flat also causes accidents. Involvement of alcohol is seen in about half of the fatal accidents.
Post from: choppernutz.com

The Pros And Cons Of Using Motorcycles

The incidence of road accidents is higher with motorcycles as compared to other vehicles. Fatalities too are higher with motorcycles. Most of them involve another vehicle. Majority of these happen when the other vehicle cut into the path of motorcycles. Single vehicle accidents are the cause of all other accidents and do not involve another vehicle. This happens due to driver error. This could be caused by under-cornering or running wide on a curve at high speed, slide out or over breaking. Some accidents are due to vehicle failure which includes a puncture flat. Consumption of alcohol has been found in half of the fatal accidents.

The severity of injury increases with the size of the motorcycle, alcohol involvement and speed. Often the protective barriers on the road and road side such as signs, fences, and lamps are cause of injuries after the accidents occurs. The motorcyclists are prone to crashing on to the protective barriers causing additional injuries. A major factor for motorcycle accidents involving other vehicle is the low visibility factor of motorcycles.

Motorcycles are broadly of three types. They are street, off-road and dual purpose motorcycles. The street bikes are what are used on the roads. The off-road bikes are racing bikes and are not permitted to be used for common transport. the dual purpose motorcycles are designed in such a way that they can be used both as a means of transport as well as racing. Scooters are further divided into electric scooters, kick scooters, motorized scooters, mobility scooters and gas scooters.

Gas scooter is the most common on the roads. Some of the scooters include Honda, Peugeot, Piaggio, Puch, Suzuki, Vespa, Yamaha, Bajaj, TVS, and ZNEN. There are companies such as X-Treme who manufacture electric scooters such as X-Treme XB-420M, X-Treme X-500, X-Treme X-250, and X-Treme X-140; Gas motorcycle Moped as X-Treme XM-155; Gas Moped as X-Treme XM-160; gas motorcycle moped as X-Treme XM-50, gas scooters moped as X-Treme XM-150, electric moped motorcycle as X-Treme XM-4000Li and gas scooters as X-Treme XG 470 scooter. The most common scooter found on the roads is the gas scooter. They come in different models and brands such as Peugeot, Honda, Puch, Piaggio, Vespa, Yamaha, Suzuki, TVS, Bajaj and ZNEN. Companies such as X-Treme manufacture electric scooters as X-Treme X-500, X-Treme XB-420M, X-Treme X-140 and X-Treme X-250; Gas Moped as X-Treme XM-160; Gas motorcycle Moped as X-Treme XM-155; gas scooters moped as X-Treme XM-150; gas motorcycle moped as X-Treme XM-50; gas scooters as X-Treme XG 470 scooter and electric moped motorcycle as X-Treme XM-4000Li.

With the economic slow down and increased cost of gasoline, there is an increased demand for motorcycles. The traffic congestion and the ability of motorcycles to get through the traffic easily, more people are opting for thee motorcycles. The manufacturers are responding to this demand with newer designs and models with a variety of features.

Many people find it very convenient to use two wheelers. Also it is easy to maintain two wheelers. Two wheelers have also become quiet safe to use these days because of the advanced technology incorporated in them. Like other vehicles, two wheelers are also prone to damages, theft and other losses. So people must have two wheeler insurance.

Two wheeler insurance will cover all two wheel vehicles including motorcycles, mopeds, scooters, pedal cycles and auto cycles. Many types of insurance plans may even provide for three wheeled carriages.

Two wheeler insurance can offer various types of benefits and can provide for losses that the owner of the two wheeler incurs because of different types of events. A typical insurance plan of this type will cover all losses which are incurred when the two wheeler gets damaged in a fire, explosion or any other event. This type of plan will also cover losses which are incurred because of damage caused by lightning, burglary, earthquakes, floods or any other natural calamity.

This type of insurance also provides for losses when the two wheeler gets stolen. In case the vehicle gets damaged in transit via a rail, road or air route, the insurance plan will provide for losses incurred.

Sometimes the owner of the two wheeler may be involved in an accident and in the event a third party might get injured. In such cases the two wheeler insurance plan provides for the medical expenses for the third party. If the owner of the vehicle gets injured, the medical expenses are provided for by the insurance plan.

In many cases, the two wheeler insurance plan will also cover the expenses which the owner pays for the repair or the replacement of the vehicle. The insurance plan also pays for the replacement cost when the wheels get damaged.

Two wheeler insurance plans will not cover any type of losses incurred because of normal wear and tear or depreciation in the value of the vehicle. Any damages that are caused to the vehicle because of drunken driving are not covered by the insurance plan. Also any damages caused intentionally are not covered by any insurance plan.

A large number of companies offer different types of insurance plans. Any person planning to buy this type of insurance it must evaluate the pros and cons of each available plan and compare the plans. This helps the person to select the plan which reaps the maximum benefits. Are you interested in seeing what lasik insurance can do for you?

Looking for lasting and reliable transportation without spending tons of money? motor scooter maintenance is necessary in accomplishing your goal. Just like you keep up with the maintenance of your car or house, preventative maintenance done on your scooter will also prove to be very beneficial.

Checking your oil levels and change it regularly is one of the most important steps in maintaining your scooter. Changing your oil is very easy, takes about 5 minutes, and cost less than $5. Your owners manual will suggest the proper procedure for your scooter. Also recommended is changing your transmission oil every 6 months or 2000 miles.

Perhaps the easiest item of scooter maintenance is checking tire pressure regularly. It is very important maintain proper air pressure in the tires since a scooter only has two wheels and tire problems can lead more easily to a loss of control and possible injury. Look for wear in the tire and at the value stem for cracks or splits.

One maintenance item many scooter riders ignore is checking the integrity of the frame. Check all hinges, joints, and quick releases and correct any problems before riding again. Your owners manual will provide ideas in what to check. Even though the maintenance schedule states to check bolt tightness every 6 months or 1000 miles, it is certainly a good idea to do it more frequently.

Not all scooters are exactly the same, therefore checking your owners manual for your scooter in necessary. It will give the specifics on changing your oils, air filters, spark plugs, tire pressure and other maintenance tips. Regular scooter maintenance will prolong the life of your scooter thus preventing you from expensive replacement or repair cost.

Steven M. Mihajlov is a writer and a scooter enthusiast. He loves scooters because they are fun and they assist Americans in dealing with the economic crisis.

Scooters range from an engine size of 49cc, 50cc, 250cc and up. People use scooters to commute back and forth to different spots like work and doing errands. Several scooters are like to bikes with pedals and others have a foot board. Scooters outdoes autos in a good deal of different areas, and thus make a nicer vehicle. Many people pick out scooters because they are a lot less than a car. Scooters also don’t cost as much to operate. Scooters are environmentally friendly, which is another reason they’re chosen over cars. They’re fashionable and thrilling to drive around in too. It’s easy to find low-priced or free parking and storage space for a scooter.

Scooters can cost as little as $200 and as much as seven thousand dollars. There are several types from 50cc to 250cc. The “cc” denotes the size of the engine. Normally, the smaller engines cost less. Smaller engines also have restricted speeds. Typically a 50cc scooter cannot go above 35 miles per hour. The 250cc scooters can go up to 80 miles per hour.

The scooter uses less oil, gasoline and repair, thus they’re a great deal less pricey. The common mileage for a gal of gas in a scooter is 142-144 miles. Most people live around five miles from work. Any scooter that is between 120-130 miles per gallon utilizes approximately 1 gallon of gas a month. The cost is more or less 4-6 bucks for around one gallon of gas month. The scooter is much easier on the pocketbook, at even four dollars a month, as a car can be at least a hundred dollars a month.

Utilising less gas also makes a scooter a more environmentally friendly kind of transportation. They don’t only utilise less petrol, they give off less carbon into the air.

There are more benefits to utilising a scooter. Finding parking is super simple. In a busy downtown area, it’s a bonus to obtain parking spots more easily. At home, they’re even more effortless to store. They don’t even demand a garage; merely park them on the backyard or porch in a covered tarp.

While the three reasons above, good gasoline mileage, environmentally friendly and effortless to park, are terrific reasons to get a scooter; the fact that they’re actually exhilarating to drive, is another. The scooter is trendy and cool. Driving with the wind in your face is very energizing.

Now that you have several reasons to get a scooter, can you think of a single reason not to?

When you’re buying a scooter be sure to check out all the information.

1. First things first you need a licence. Without it you can’t even do the basic training in step 2. It’s easy to apply. All you need is 50 and a photograph signed by someone in authority or a current British passport. Take them to a Post Office, fill in a form and Robert’s your father’s uncle.

2. The next step is to do a CBT course. This validates your provisional moped/motorcycle entitlement and gives you a basic understanding of the bike and the road.

3. By law we must protect our delicate little heads from damage whilst riding any form of motorised bicycle. So a helmet comes next. You will by now know what you should and shouldn’t be buying and how the helmet should fit correctly. It was part of the CBT course you just completed. If it wasn’t then go and complain. They missed a bit. It’s probably worth spending a bit of money on a jacket and gloves at the same time, don’t you think?

4. Buying a bike is easy. Choosing the correct one isn’t. It all comes down to personal preference, budget and what you will use it for. At the end of the day the ideal bike for commuting to work in an office may not be the same as one for working a farm. Check out my blog if you’re stuck.

5. Roadworthiness of your vehicle is your responsibility. The annual MOT isn’t a certificate of proof. You must personally ensure your tyres are good, your lights work and your bike isn’t a death-trap for any other reason. You still need a valid MOT though.

6. Insurance is compulsory. The level of cover is not. If your bike cost 50 or so and you can afford to replace it if you make a mistake or it gets stolen (and even 50 ‘wrecks’ get joy-ridden) then third party cover will do. Otherwise it’s worth looking at fire and theft cover too. Comprehensive cover is usually cost-prohibitive to the average 16 year old as it will often be almost as expensive as replacing the bike outright

7. You also need to buy vehicle tax. Mopeds are reasonably environmentally friendly and consequently they are extremely cheap on tax. In 2009 the road tax fund for a motor bicycle is only 15. It is available from most Post Offices and you will need to take the Vehicle Registration Certificate (or the green tear-off slip if it was a recent purchase), a valid MOT for the bike and proof of insurance with you.

8. Last but by no means least, if you are riding on a provisional licence you must display L-Plates at the front and rear of your bike. They must not be cut-down or obscured in any way.

9. The best bit. Fill up with petrol (and oil if it’s 2-stroke), put on your helmet, gloves and jacket and off you go. The world is a much better place on a moped.

Fasttrack Motorcycles, Leicester is the place to go if you’re looking to buy, need advice or want help with used motorbikes in the midlands. It’s also where you’ll find the author, John Vincent, when he’s not writing articles for The Moped Spot.

Go karts can make your heart pump like almost nothing else. If you re hooked on the thrill of go karting and you are dying to purchase a sleek new go kart there are a few tricks you need to learn. With a little patience go karts can be bought for as much as 50% off of the regular retail price. They are incredibly fun, and they’ve become extremely popular these days. You can find go karts at just about every family fun center or amusement park.

Go to Google.com and Yahoo.com. Find a few go kart sites that offer the types of go karts that you are searching for and make a note of the models and their prices. Once again, look at the sponsored ads on the page and visit some of them too. Keep track of the cheapest prices you can find.

Saving up to 50% on the price of a great go kart is worth waiting a couple of weeks for. Once you ve done your homework you just might be rewarded with a wonderfully cheap gokart. And once the work is over, it s fun time.

Cheap Go Karts are pretty easy to find these days online. Ebay works to find Go Karts as well as craigslist and even a google search. TSRacing.com is a very good source for racing go karts, while gokarting.com is good for yard karts or parking lot racers.

Cheap go karts can quite often be the path into much better go karts and even into go kart racing. Getting started into go karting in usually the hard part. once you buy the first kart you will begin to collect parts and pieces and before you know it you will have a nice collection of stuff. It is usually at this point that you trade up or sell off what you don’t need in order to get newer, better, or more expensive go kart gear.

Next you should check all the steering joints and bearing play. wiggle things around if they move too much in directions they were not intended to move then they may be worn out. Just remember when you buy Used Go Carts to check it out completely and you should be able to get a good deal.

Just like you use preventive maintenance for your house or car, it is also beneficial for your scooter. By following the following scooter maintenance tips, you will have a reliable means of transportation that will last for years!

Ensuring the scooter is properly assembled is often ignored when doing maintenance checks. Joints and hinges could become loose during operation, so it is a good idea to check and correct looseness prior to riding your scooter. It could be a good habit to check bolt tightness more regularly than the suggest 1000 miles or 6 months standard maintenance schedule.

As far as changing your transmission or motor oils, spark plugs, air filters, etc., your owner manual will provide suggested maintenance schedule. Since some specific maintenance on scooters vary from scooter to scooter, check the owner manual for your scooter. By doing a little scooter maintenance regularly. you can avoid expensive repair or replacement cost and prolong your scooter experience.

When considering your insurance policy, you have to take into account the state laws. Specifically, what is the minimum coverage, and what types of coverage are required.

The best source for your insurance laws is your insurance company. They will be able to answer the questions you want to ask them and be sure that you are covered in every instance. After all, it’s their job to know. Have your questions ready when you call them to save time and make sure that you don’t forget anything.

Basic rule is that each state has a minimum requirement for the auto insurance coverage you need to have for certain situations. The three types of coverage is injury to another, injury to all people, and damage to property.

One of the most unconsidered issues is traveling to another state. You must have auto insurance coverage to conform to that state’s laws. Call your insurance before you cross state lines to change coverage to meet the local requirements.

Some states have laws covering vehicles that you don’t need insurance for. In Washington and Oregon, motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds do not need insurance to drive them.

All states require you to carry auto insurance proof on you at all times. When pulled over if you don’t provide proof, you will get a ticket and have to contest it in court. Simply bring the proof to the judge and you should get acquitted. If not, it’s a hefty fine.

You are the one responsible for staying within the driving laws of your state. In all states, it is considered a privilege, not a right, to drive and have a drivers license.

Laws can be confusing sometimes. How much coverage is you required to have? What is the minimum amount? Do you have to have liability? What if you drive to other states? The questions are endless and it can be confusing at times.

Your agent is the best source of information. They have access to all the state laws for insurance and will be able to lead you in the right way. It’s their job to know these things and they get paid for your safety. Before you call them be sure to write down your inquiries so they can answer them promptly and you don’t have to call them back.

Basic rule is that each state has a minimum requirement for the auto insurance coverage you need to have for certain situations. The three types of coverage is injury to another, injury to all people, and damage to property.

If you are going to travel out of state, check out what auto insurance coverage you will need. Call the rep of your insurance company and verify the coverage you need. Be sure if you are traveling through multiple states, find the strictest one and change your coverage to that one for the time being.

It is your responsibility to be familiar with and in abidance of the laws of your state. Driving, along with having a drivers license, is considered a privilege, not a right.

by Ben Blackburn

When many people decide they want to get a scooter, they first think that they want something that will work well on surface streets and will not necessarily get up to dangerous speeds like a 150cc or larger scooter would. Many people decide that a 50cc scooter would really be ideal for their situation after a little bit of research, and they then set off to purchase their scooter. After making their purchase, many people end up regretting their decision for one reason or another.

After selling hundreds of scooters at our retail location over the past year our business has been open, I have discovered that there are lots of things that people don’t consider when purchasing a scooter. Many of these things become very apparent in the days following their purchase after it’s too late to reverse the decision. I would like to outline a few things you need to know when investigating your scooter purchase options.

50cc scooters will really only go 35 mph, even though many shop owners say that they can get up to 45 mph. If you weigh over 150 lbs, you are likely to not be able to get over 40 even on a steep downhill. When it comes to steep uphills, you may not even be able to get over 25 to 30 mph. forget about keeping up with traffic and staying out of the way of other cars that will be keeping up with the speed limit, because it’s pretty much impossible.

If you plan to drive on slower roads or even just roads that don’t have a lot of traffic, a 50cc scooter is a cheaper option than almost any 150cc scooter and can be a better choice for you. Even though 50cc scooters are unable to reach high speeds, they are often exactly what you want to have to get around town. The most important thing is that you are aware of its limitations before you make your purchase.

One thing to also consider is your state licensing requirements. In addition to vehicle licensing requirements, many states do not require drivers of scooters under a certain size to have a special motorcycle endorsement in order to ride. This of course can save a lot of time and hassle. You can be sure that a 50cc scooter costs less to keep registered at the DMV than almost any larger scooter or motorcycle as well.

With respect to the level of quality of many 50cc scooters, you should also be careful what brands you purchase. The 50cc scooters that tend to have the fewest problems are from a Chinese manufacturer such as Lance, KMD, and Fly, or anything from Europe, Taiwan, India. They usually come with a much better warranty and tend to last A LOT longer. Chinese scooters are usually the cheapest of all of those scooters. Having sold lots of 50cc scooters out of our shop in Provo, Utah, I can say that the absolute cheapest chinese 50cc scooters are really not worth your money, no matter how cheap they are. They tend to have a lot more electrical problems than larger 150cc scooters do, and they also quite often many of the engine components are not made to last.

If you are thinking about purchasing a 50cc scooter soon, just make sure to take everything into account before you make your decision. Are you making sure that the scooter you are interested in has a solid warranty and is a reputable company with good quality control? Are you going to be able to get around licensing requirements? Are you going to be able to keep up with traffic on the streets where you plan to drive? If you are able to keep track of all of these things, you should be able to make the correct decision and be very happy with your purchase.
