It can be great fun being a scooter owner; particularly when the weather is calm and the sun is out. Far more than being entertaining though, there are also many more benefits. The cost of motoring is increasingly expensive of course, whilst we are constantly bombarded to reduce our carbon footprint; in both these areas scooters can help. Selecting which one to go for is not always easy.

Ahead of anything else, it is necessary to first decide a budget of course. At the very upper end of the scale, it is perfectly possible to spend in excess of 10,000 dollars on a scooter.

However, for the majority of people, smaller types at little more than 2,000 dollars prove more than capable for basic running around, and heading into the office each day. You can spend less than this of course through second hand machines or via online auction sites.

Having decided upon your budget, it will be necessary to make a note of your needs. Occasionally of course, this may mean you price yourself out of certain models that you had in mind. If this is the case, consider whether you can increase your budget slightly or be prepared to compromise.

This is most likely to be driven by how you intend on using the scooter. For heavy use, perhaps as the main mode of transport, something with a larger engine and greater comfort should be sought. However, if you are using just to scoot to the shops or to work and back in a busy metropolis, you can afford to aim slightly lower perhaps.

When looking at what size engine to buy, ensure you have thoroughly checked local laws to ensure your choice will be street legal for where you intend to drive it. The smallest sized engine, at 50cc will be limited to about 45 miles an hour. A standard size for city driving is about 150cc to 200cc, where speeds of 65 miles can be reached.

To make your ride experience even better, look out for helpful additions. Particularly for first timers, electronic starters make things easier; certainly on those crisp and clear Fall mornings. Auto transmissions too are good to look out for, and take something else to think about out of the way.

There are some concerns that practicality is not the best. However, this is somewhat of a misconception considering that many types have under seat storage and side bags again, for not too much additional cost.

Having made all the fundamental decisions, it is really just down to selecting the style and color you prefer. There are a host of modern types available, from leading manufacturers such as Yamaha and Honda. However, increasingly popular are retro styles, as seen from Italian manufacturers such as Lambretta and Vespa.

Having made your choice, you are sure to have hours of fun and wonder why you hadn’t got a scooter earlier. However, do be extra careful on the road and wear the right clothing. And if at all possible; seek shelter when the wind and rain hits; it just isn’t as much fun!

Having trouble shopping for the family? Buy a gas powered Scooters for your family and they’ll be thrilled! You’ll be giving a gift everyone can enjoy when you purchase a Scooter. See exciting models available right now!

Did you ever wonder why hats you bought in the early 70’s always seems to be popular again 25 years later? Scooters and mopeds are really the same way. In fact, many of these companies are playing up the trend and coming out with scooters that look retro. The Metropolitan from Honda and the GVS from Vespa actually look like a form of older versions.

At just about the 20th century, scooters made there way to the European market. They resembled what we think of as a moped in today’s world. A bike with a motor attached is kind of a crude way to describe it. By the late 1910’s people in the USA were driving scooters, but they still never reached the popularity of the auto mobile. Here is a look at some of the better know scooters on the market today:

Cushman –The Cushman Company produced motor scooters from 1936 to 1965 and they were most widely used during WWII. If you’ve ever seen some of those old WWII documentaries or films, these are most likely what the GI’s are cruising around on.

The Mitsubishi Silver Pigeon — So, what do you do with old warplane parts? Well, the Mitsubishi company use them to build scooters back in the 40’s. Now that is using what you got.

Vespa Motor Scooters — If you had a scooter in Europe after WWI, it was almost certainly a Vespa. To this day, they are still one of the most popular scooters in the world.

The Honda Motor Company — In the late 1950’s, Honda introduced the Super Cub to the world. This little scooter went on to become the best selling scooter of all-time.(worldwide) With that Honda reliablity, I wouldn’t be surprised if you could find one of these running today.

On a worldwide scale, Honda has probably been the most diverse and they have certainly had more models than any other company that makes them.

It’s cool that they are bringing back the retro scooter look. Most of them are just for looks and will come with 4 stroke engines that are water cooled instead of 2 stroke engines. Fuel injection is also a key feature that has been added to the newer versions.

What is old becomes new again.

Whether you want to find out more about a fast gas scooter or Honda Metropolitan scooter, this web site has it all for free!

These ebikes are fun, fast, and much quieter than those obnoxious growling things that go plowing trenches in the wild. Dirt ebikes are safer than gas, as well as they do not have any explosive fuel tanks or hot parts to burn yourself on. They charge up by plugging into the wall and the high efficiency batteries on these things are designed to work in harmony with the motor to deliver a steady supply of long lasting power.

It’s time to feel the spirit of bliss with mini dirt bikes. Looks like, the thirst for these sleek mean machines is never ending. Icon for the youth, they are the safest on fast tracks. A truly magnificent mean machine and pioneer fantasy bikes for young adults. Those who love driving their mini bikes are ever ready for any outdoor adventure. To look at these roaring vehicles are actually off-road motorbikes, lightweight and are usually driven on cross country dirt roads unpaved, uneven or rough grounds.

Bike enthusiasts will find an overwhelming variety of classy mini dirt bike models in the market. Before buying ones needs to carefully choose the right one that suits the requirement, budget and the engine type. These bikes are typically designed for traveling on uneven landscapes. They are manufactured by reputed bike makers like Honda, Pantera, Yamaha and Razor. Many banks lend loans to serious buyers. Sporty mini dirt bikes add glamour to the youngster’s lifestyle!

If someone in your family has been nagging you about a motocross bike, consider an ebike mini dirt bike as your alternative to a traditional gas powered model. My nephew Paulo had been bugging me, but he’s only 12 and I didn’t think a big dirt bike would be appropriate. So I bought him a razor mini dirt bike for Christmas. He loves it.

Unlike commuter ebikes, range is not so much of an issue with a mini dirt bike, as you are rarely going more than 20 miles at a time. This means you can use the powerful motor to its fullest capacity, going as fast as you want and still have plenty of juice left over for another go or pulling some stunts around the course. The batteries take only a few hours to charge and then you can be off to the races again for another round.

It’s important to remember where you will be riding it and what kind of use it will get when you are looking for a scooter that fits you best. Rather than just go for the cheapest scooter and disregard other factors, it’ s always better to consider first what type of scooter will fits best with how you plan to use it and where you will be riding it.

The most common way to advertise the size of a scooter is by stating the engine displacement. This is the biggest factor in determining how the scooter will perform. Most scooters are 150cc, which means their engine has a displacement of 150 cubic centimeters. These scooters will usually get up to about 55 mph quite easily. 50cc scooters have one third the displacement, and will normally get up to just 35 mph most of the time.

Most any smaller scooter would fit you just fine if you plan on riding only on small residential streets. Either a 150cc or a 50cc scooter would give you enough power to go where you need to go. You can keep up with traffic even with a smaller 50cc scooter, since the speed limit on small streets is usually just 25 mph.

If you plan on riding on larger streets where the speed limit is over 25 mph, you should definitely consider getting a scooter that has more power and can carry you significantly faster than the smaller 50cc scooters. It would be best for you to go for anything that goes at least 45 mph so you can keep up with traffic. That generally means a 125cc or a 150cc scooter. Because 125cc scooters are not very common, a 150cc is your best bet.

Many people who choose to go with a 50cc scooter so that they can commute to work or school on busier streets are quickly disappointed when they realize that their new scooter will not keep up with traffic. If your scooter is not at least 125cc, you cannot even legally ride it on any street that has a speed limit of over 25mph in most states. That greatly decreases the functionality of your scooter and severely limits you in where you can ride.

If you are considering a 50cc scooter because you think that a 150cc scooter might be too dangerous because it will be too fast for you, you might want to keep in mind that the biggest reason why scooter riders get in accidents is that they cannot keep up with traffic or speed up to get out of the way of other vehicles. A smaller scooter is the biggest victim in such incidences, because larger scooters can get out of the way. You can of course go faster if the need arises on a larger scooter, but you most definitely do not have to always ride fast.

Most people who prefer a scooter that stays as slower speeds are also basing their mindset off of a past experience they had when they practiced riding a larger scooter. They possibly felt that it was really hard to control or had too much power for them. Many people feel the same way at first, but after only a couple hours of riding, they realize that it is not that difficult and can can be controlled just as easily as a smaller scooter.

If you are unsure about which scooter to go with still, just find a person that has either a 50cc or a 150cc scooter and try riding it around a little bit. Just remember that 90% of all people prefer a 150cc scooter, so even if you have not ridden one before, you can know that you probably fall in that category and will be quite happy with your scooter if you opt for a larger engine.

Boardwalk Scooter Shop has some of the best scooters available anywhere, including high-quality 150cc and 50cc scooters. Check our their low prices!

The electric scooters work with the aid of motors and batteries that make them easy for traveling. While a variety of switches control speed [on/off or variable], the bicycle hand brakes are installed on the handlebars to keep the electric scooters under control. The batteries are generally placed beneath the feet thereby easing travel further. The speed of these scooters often vary dramatically ranging from below 10 mph for inexpensive import scooters to over 30 mph for the highest-speed scooters.

Types of electric scooters: From amongst a dozen of electric scooters available in the market, the three most representative examples include: Zappy ” this scooter can carry a rider 4-5 miles at just 10-12 mph speed limit. Flyer ” the Phat Flyer provides 5-8 mile range and 15 mph speed limit at the expense of portability. Voloci ” this looks and gives the feel of a moped. It includes special features like selectable performance models, quick-swap battery packs, keyed ignition for added security and state-of-charge indicators.

When electric scooters were first introduced to the market, manufacturers had designed them to meet the needs of disabled people. They were ideal for individuals who experienced partial immobility, limb movement restrictions and/or had pain when required to stand or walk for longer periods. In due course of time, electric scooters gained popularity amongst a larger group of people. This includes kids, adults, elderly people and industrial workers. The obvious factors that go behind labeling the best electric scooters are dependent upon their unique features and attributes, and people?s specific needs and requirements.

Parents who purchase electric scooters for children could be influenced by products with colorful exteriors. In case of adults who use them to commute to grocery stores and malls, the best electric scooters could be those that have storage cabinets. For disabled persons, the best electric scooters tend to be those that meet their special needs. When used for internal transportation of labor and products within industry premises, the best electric scooters could include varieties with large seats and increased load capacities.

Some people may prefer a full-size electric scooter because of its storage capacity, either under the seat or in an attachable storage case. Ebikes, however, have accessories, such as attachable trailers. This accessory is popular with many riders of electric bicycles, as it enables trips to the grocery store (one of many short trips for which an electric vehicle can save gas).

Electric bicycles may have an edge over scooters in terms of where they can go. The rider of a full-size electric scooter is usually limited to the same streets used by cars and trucks, which also carries rider safety implications. Electric bicycles can travel not only on city streets, but also on sidewalks, bicycle trails, and dedicated bike lanes.

by Banga Koupit

A chopper is a radically customized motorcycle, archetypal examples of which are the customized Harley-Davidsons seen in the 1969 film Easy Rider.

In the post-World War II United States, servicemen returning home from the war started removing all parts deemed too big, heavy, ugly or not absolutely essential to the basic function of the motorcycle, such as fenders, turn indicators, and even front brakes. The large, spring-suspended saddles were also removed in order to sit as low as possible on the motorcycle’s frame. These machines were lightened to improve performance for dirt-track racing and mud racing.

In the United States servicemen returning from World War II were looking for a thrill. Many veterans had been trained to work on automobiles and motorcycles and were looking to add a little excitement to their post-war lives with their newly acquired mechanical skills. Motorcycles and Hot Rods were the perfect hobby for them. Motorcyclists bought up surplus military bikes and removed all the unnecessary parts like windshields and saddlebags to minimise weight. Rear fenders were “bobbed” or shortened just enough to handle a passenger and keep the rain and mud coming off the rear, and sometimes removed the mirrors, or replaced them with tiny ones, such as the type used by dentists in their work.

Choppers have enjoyed a large following. Companies like Jesse G. James’ West Coast Choppers have been successful in producing expensive traditional chopper-style bikes and a wide range of chopper-themed brands of merchandise such as clothing, automobile accessories and stickers.

While people assume that the chopper style motorcycles were built purely for aesthetics, there is a real performance advantage to the raked front end on these choppers. These motorcycles have a much more stable feel at high speeds and in a straight line than motorcycles with original factory front suspensions. However, like any other modification, there is a downside: the raked front end feels heavier and less responsive at slow speeds or in curves and turns. This is due to the longer trail measurement associated with increased rake.

Despite the personalized nature of choppers, and the wide availability of alternative designs, chopper builders have overwhelmingly chosen fat rear tires, a rigid-looking frame (even for a softail), and an original or replica air-cooled, pushrod v-twin engine. In the UK, due to the cost and lack of availability of the v-twin engine, many chose to use British engines from bikes such as Triumph or BSA; lately as availability has increased, Japanese engines have seen more use. Some people feel that the variety of engines and other components used more recently (especially on bikes built outside of the US) is diluting the signature appearance of the chopper style. Modern bobber builders tend to distinguish themselves from chopper builders with bikes styled before the chopper era. Modern bobber builder Jan Bachleda in Colorado builds custom choppers and bobbers using Triumph engines and frames from the 1970s and earlier. The look, though chopped, is distinctly modern and low. Today’s custom choppers are usually seen as center pieces at bike night events around the United States.

Whereas the original bobbers and choppers were mostly home built on a budget, the modern development of the chopper tends to be shop built and very expensive. It differs from what has gone before in the technology employed in frame construction and the use of billet aluminium parts including headlights, foot and hand controls. Almost all ‘Longbikes’ have ‘Big Inch’ aftermarket or current Harley Davidson motors. Paint work styles tend to favour ghostly air brushing techniques and the Longbikes are almost exclusively solo.

A trike is a motorized three wheeled vehicle, often with an appearance closer to a motorcycle than to a car. These machines have increased in popularity in recent years, being seen as an excellent alternative to motorbikes. There are strict definitions of what most owners think of a trike as being. A motorcycle with a sidecar is not, for instance, seen as being one, despite the fact that it has three wheels.

There’s a whole culture that goes with riding these machines too. That culture places trike owners in the same bracket as motorcycle owners, distinct from those of us who drive cars and other four wheeled vehicles.

Whether such models gain popularity will be interesting. One thing is for certain – trike owners will continue to enjoy the experience of riding these unique vehicles.

Children’s trikes are made of steel frames or plastic. One disadvantage of plastic frames is that they be more likely to tip over than a steel frame if a heavier child is riding. On the plus side, plastic frames will not rust like steel frames if the trike is left out in the rain. A good quality trike’s wheels will have treads, which provide better traction.

In the case of delta tricycles, the drive is often to just one of the rear wheels, though in some cases both wheels are driven through a differential. A double freewheel, preferably using no-backlash roller clutches, is considered superior. A jackshaft drive permits either single or two-wheel drive. Tadpoles generally use a bicycle’s rear wheel drive and for that reason are usually lighter, cheaper and easier to replace and repair.

The alternative is to use standard Ackermann steering geometry, perhaps with both front brakes operated by the stronger hand. While the KMX Kart stunt trike with this setup allows the rear brake to be operated separately, letting the rider do “bootlegger turns”, the standard setup for most trikes has brakes for each side operated by each hand.

An often-noted problem with recumbent trikes, much debated by trikers and recumbent riders of all kinds, is their poor climbing ability: the rider cannot get out of the saddle and stand up on the pedals to climb hills. Trikers argue that they make up the time lost going up hills by going much faster on the downhill side because of the low, aerodynamic riding position.

Freight trikes are most often of the tadpole configuration, with the cargo box (platform, etc.) mounted between the front wheels. India and China are significant strongholds of the rear-loading “delta” carrier trike. Freight trikes are also designed for indoor use in large warehouses or industrial plants. The advantage of using freight trikes rather than a motor vehicle is that there is no exhaust, which means that the trike can be used inside warehouses. While another option is electric golf cart-style vehicles, freight trikes are human-powered, so they do not have the maintenance required to keep batteries on golf carts charged up. For more information, see the articles on “workbike” and “freight bicycle”.

Makers of recumbent trikes include KMX; Hase (who make the Kettwiesel delta, improbably named after the British children’s programme Catweazle); Inspired Cycle Engineering, who make the Trice range of tadpole trikes; AVD, who build the record holding Burrows Windcheetah or Speedy, a design exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art (MoMA); Australia’s Greenspeed, one of the oldest manufacturers; Michigan-based WhizWheelz, which makes 10 models, including a sub-US$1000 model tadpole and a tandem; and Big Cat HPV which builds the 6 Catrike models in Florida.

Dirt bikes, also known as Trails Bikes are off-road, lightweight motorcycles built for cross country, unpaved, rough or uneven grounds. Since they are specifically designed for rough terrains, they are also equipped with rugged tires and suspension. They also have a smaller engine power than typical street motorcycles, normally less than 500 cc.

Riding dirt bikes is incredibly exhilarating. Once you get started it is almost guaranteed that you will get hooked on this sport. First things first for beginning riders is to find a bike! It is becoming easier to find cheap dirt bikes for sale online, of course, riders who are new to the sport won’t want to spend a lot of money on a bike that they will merely be learning on. Used dirt bikes are the way to go, especial when you are just starting out. There is a huge selection on the web. The Internet is a good place to get started so that you can get an idea of what you are looking for, compare prices, and find the cheap used dirt bikes.

Once you ve decided what Dirt Bike model you want to buy, know that private Dirt Bike sellers offer much cheaper bargains than established dealers if you re planning to buy one on a tight budget. Look out for their Ads on the classified pages of your local paper or magazines.

Buying new Dirt Bikes can be expensive. A new 4500cc Dirt Bike, for instance, can cost you as much as $8000. So if you still want to enjoy the excitement of riding an off-road motorcycle without spending too much, the best option is to go for a Used Dirt Bike.

Because they run on electricity, mini dirt ebikes are also a lot cleaner and better for the environment than gas powered models. They do not put out harmful exhaust fumes like gas motors, and the only pollution from them comes from the risk of improper battery disposal and whatever was used to provide the energy for your home in the first place. Because power plants have strict standards nowadays, that will be much less of an impact than gasoline, so shrink your carbon footprint and ride electric! You can also cut down on noise pollution with these bikes too, as they are much, much more quiet than gas powered motors. Unlike that angry buzzing hornet sound with a normal dirt motorbike, these models have only a quiet hum of power, making them perfect for cruising along back country trails or racing through urban courses alike.

Mini dirt bikes are far less expensive to operate than their gas powered cousins, as in order to get the equivalent of a full tank of gas you have only to plug it into the power outlet in your wall for a few hours and you are ready to go. No more lugging around dangerous gas cans in the back of your car on the way to the dirt bike course or paying far too much a gallon to fill the thing in the first place! With an electric dirt bike, you can just pay for the cost of the electricity it took to charge the battery, which should run you up to 90% less.

Keep in mind when looking at used bikes the cost that may have to go into it if problems arise. Hopefully you are able to work with the seller and get them to be upfront and honest with any repairs that may be needed right away. If something breaks down after the purchase don’t fret. The same website you found your bike most likely sells parts along with cheap dirt bikes. This same outlet that you found your bike and parts will most definitely sell some sick gear also. Stay safe, have fun and keep practicing!

by Banga Koupit

The first mobility scooter was built by Allan R. Thieme in 1968. His first functional scooter was a front wheel drive model that he built at his home. He dubbed it the Amigo and it became the start of something big. Mobility scooters are great for people who have trouble getting around their home or outside. In fact that is the reason that Thieme came up with the idea in the first place. One of his family members had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis – which is a very debilitating disease.

Driving in one of these scooters is very simple once you have learned where all of the controls are and what they are for. The steering column (also known as the tiller) can be found in the front of the scooter. The tiller has been built with speed controls and reverse and forward directions. You can move around in the scooter through three different options; finger controls, a switch, and thumb paddles. If you have any questions as to how to operate a mobility scooter you should ask the dealer you purchased from.

You will have the option to choose the rear wheel drive or front wheel drive scooters. The front wheel drive scooter is smaller and is more better used inside the house. It can hold up to 250 pounds. The rear wheel drive scooter is slightly larger and can be used both indoors and outdoors. This can hold up to 350 pounds. The heavy duty rear wheel drive model can hold up to 500 pounds or more. This will depend on which manufacturer you purchase from.

A main selling point of the electric scooter is that it does not look like a wheelchair, which many people see as a sign of old age. However, as increasing numbers of elderly persons choose mobility scooters, the scooter is now developing its own reputation, at least among the able-bodied, as a geriatric item. Mobility scooters are generally less affordable than powered wheelchairs, and often harder to obtain from insurers or health care agencies.

You are on your bed, chair or even at home because of mobility limitations? Then an electric mobility scooter in May only the solution you are looking for. These scooters have literally revolutionized the mobility for people with walking limitatio

Mobility scooters can provide a great sense of freedom for those with physical challenges. There are many variations of mobility scooters available. The styles, colors, size and features vary greatly ” to meet the needs of many different people. Popularity for scooters has grown in the past few years. Leading manufacturers include such names as Invacare, Pride,.. Advertising campaigns abound on television, print, radio, and billboards touting the convenience and benefits of various models of scooters.

Mobility scooters generally are much more compact and provide easier maneuverability than a power wheelchair. Scooters are more compact than power wheelchairs ” usually the seat is either removable or it can be folded down. These foldable scooters are often referred to as travel scooters. They can be quickly folded down and placed in an average size car trunk. Many of the scooters can even be taken with you when you travel on an airline. If you plan on booking a fight, check with the airline to make sure of size or weight restrictions of taking your scooter with you.

Finding A Cheap 50cc moped scooter is easy and beneficial for many. Besides the obvious gas savings a motor scooter provides, you might be pleasantly surprised with the many benefits of owning a scooter. Moped scooters come in a variety of styles and sizes and are a great alternative to getting around town and doing errands quickly.

One benefit is that moped scooters are very easy to use. They tend to be quite similar to motorcycles; however, unlike a motorcycle the engine of the moped scooter is located below the seat and above the rear axle. The scooter is also significantly lighter than a motorcycle and the step through frame creates a feature where riders can rest their feet on a platform or footrest instead of pedals. Unlike the motorcycle, there are no shifting gears, making it easy even for kids to operate.

Another advantages are that they are economical. All over the world, scooters are a popular form of urban transportation due to their low cost. The price depends on many factors including whether you’re buying a high quality name brand versus an inexpensive and low quality model. Most beginning models can start below $1000.

With the rising gas prices, it is quite challenging to meet other expenses. Moped scooters will save hundreds or perhaps thousands annually in fuel expenses. Most scooters will get over 80mpg compare to your typical car getting less than 20 mpg.

Another benefit is that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) approve motor scooters. With an EPA and DOT approval, vehicles meet their strict standards and can be registered as being street legal vehicle in all 50 states. In other words, they can be driven on the street. However, these vehicles aren’t designed for speed so as a precaution you may want to stay off the highway or interstate.

As you can see, the benefits of owning a motor scooter are great. Not only are they fun to use and easy to operate, but the gas scooters are very economical. Lastly, you will not have a hard time finding a good parking spot, saving you more time.
