It can be great fun being a scooter owner; particularly when the weather is calm and the sun is out. Far more than being entertaining though, there are also many more benefits. The cost of motoring is increasingly expensive of course, whilst we are constantly bombarded to reduce our carbon footprint; in both these areas scooters can help. Selecting which one to go for is not always easy.

Did you ever notice that the hats you purchased in the early 70’s always seems to be in again 25 years later? Scooters and mopeds are really the same way. The reality is, many of these companies are playing up the trend and coming out with scooters that look retro. The Metropolitan from Honda and the GVS from Vespa actually look like a form of older versions.

These ebikes are fun, fast, and much quieter than those obnoxious growling things that go plowing trenches in the wild. Dirt ebikes are safer than gas, as well as they do not have any explosive fuel tanks or hot parts to burn yourself on. They charge up by plugging into the wall and the high efficiency batteries on these things are designed to work in harmony with the motor to deliver a steady supply of long lasting power.

It’s important to remember where you will be riding it and what kind of use it will get when you are looking for a scooter that fits you best. Rather than just go for the cheapest scooter and disregard other factors, it’ s always better to consider first what type of scooter will fits best with how you plan to use it and where you will be riding it.

The electric scooters work with the aid of motors and batteries that make them easy for traveling. While a variety of switches control speed [on/off or variable], the bicycle hand brakes are installed on the handlebars to keep the electric scooters under control. The batteries are generally placed beneath the feet thereby easing travel further. The speed of these scooters often vary dramatically ranging from below 10 mph for inexpensive import scooters to over 30 mph for the highest-speed scooters.

A trike is a motorized three wheeled vehicle, often with an appearance closer to a motorcycle than to a car. These machines have increased in popularity in recent years, being seen as an excellent alternative to motorbikes. There are strict definitions of what most owners think of a trike as being. A motorcycle with a sidecar is not, for instance, seen as being one, despite the fact that it has three wheels.

Dirt bikes, also known as Trails Bikes are off-road, lightweight motorcycles built for cross country, unpaved, rough or uneven grounds. Since they are specifically designed for rough terrains, they are also equipped with rugged tires and suspension. They also have a smaller engine power than typical street motorcycles, normally less than 500 cc.

The first mobility scooter was built by Allan R. Thieme in 1968. His first functional scooter was a front wheel drive model that he built at his home. He dubbed it the Amigo and it became the start of something big. Mobility scooters are great for people who have trouble getting around their home or outside. In fact that is the reason that Thieme came up with the idea in the first place. One of his family members had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis – which is a very debilitating disease.
