For many riders, a motorbike is more than a form of recreation “it's a lifestyle. The picture of an individual on a bike immediately invokes a mantle of “coolness” with a just a hint of danger and rebellion. Dedicated riders describe their bikes as the embodiment of liberty and uniqueness, and while they may wax poetic, other drivers may not see them in a similar light. Without reference to the views and stereotypes associated with motorcycles and their riders, there are particular unavoidable truths that must be recognized.

Insurance for motorcycles and scooters is somewhat similar to other automobile policies since it is implemented by the law. It is also believed to be one of the major expenses of vehicle owners. Conversely, insurance plans are huge investments and not expenses. People just have to find the best deal to ensure needed coverage.

To be able to get insurance for a motorcycle one has to define what a motorcycle is first. So put simply, a motorcycle is any vehicle that has two wheels and is powered by a mechanical engine. It is still classified as a motorcycle even if it has a side car or a trailer. A three wheeled vehicle is classified as a motorcycle as long as it has two out of the three wheels on the same axle.

Motorcycle accidents often end with dire circumstances. Since the driver is not protected as much as they are in a truck or car, the type of injuries can be a lot more serious. The rider not only is less safe, but also has to keep careful watch as other vehicle drivers may not be aware they are present. With so many factors the legal ramifications go beyond just property damage issues.
