Motorcycles have a higher rate of accidents. The rate of fatality with motorcycle is also higher. A majority of these accidents involve a motorcycle with a passenger vehicle. In many of these types of accidents, the motorcycle right of way has been found to be violated by the other vehicle. The remaining are single vehicle accidents where it does not involve another vehicles. These single vehicle accidents are usually due to rider error. This include fall due to over-breaking, slide-out, under-cornering or running wide on a curve due to over speeding. There is also small number of instances where vehicle failure such as a puncture flat also causes accidents. Involvement of alcohol is seen in about half of the fatal accidents.
Post from: choppernutz.com

The Pros And Cons Of Using Motorcycles

The incidence of road accidents is higher with motorcycles as compared to other vehicles. Fatalities too are higher with motorcycles. Most of them involve another vehicle. Majority of these happen when the other vehicle cut into the path of motorcycles. Single vehicle accidents are the cause of all other accidents and do not involve another vehicle. This happens due to driver error. This could be caused by under-cornering or running wide on a curve at high speed, slide out or over breaking. Some accidents are due to vehicle failure which includes a puncture flat. Consumption of alcohol has been found in half of the fatal accidents.

The severity of injury increases with the size of the motorcycle, alcohol involvement and speed. Often the protective barriers on the road and road side such as signs, fences, and lamps are cause of injuries after the accidents occurs. The motorcyclists are prone to crashing on to the protective barriers causing additional injuries. A major factor for motorcycle accidents involving other vehicle is the low visibility factor of motorcycles.

Motorcycles are broadly of three types. They are street, off-road and dual purpose motorcycles. The street bikes are what are used on the roads. The off-road bikes are racing bikes and are not permitted to be used for common transport. the dual purpose motorcycles are designed in such a way that they can be used both as a means of transport as well as racing. Scooters are further divided into electric scooters, kick scooters, motorized scooters, mobility scooters and gas scooters.

Gas scooter is the most common on the roads. Some of the scooters include Honda, Peugeot, Piaggio, Puch, Suzuki, Vespa, Yamaha, Bajaj, TVS, and ZNEN. There are companies such as X-Treme who manufacture electric scooters such as X-Treme XB-420M, X-Treme X-500, X-Treme X-250, and X-Treme X-140; Gas motorcycle Moped as X-Treme XM-155; Gas Moped as X-Treme XM-160; gas motorcycle moped as X-Treme XM-50, gas scooters moped as X-Treme XM-150, electric moped motorcycle as X-Treme XM-4000Li and gas scooters as X-Treme XG 470 scooter. The most common scooter found on the roads is the gas scooter. They come in different models and brands such as Peugeot, Honda, Puch, Piaggio, Vespa, Yamaha, Suzuki, TVS, Bajaj and ZNEN. Companies such as X-Treme manufacture electric scooters as X-Treme X-500, X-Treme XB-420M, X-Treme X-140 and X-Treme X-250; Gas Moped as X-Treme XM-160; Gas motorcycle Moped as X-Treme XM-155; gas scooters moped as X-Treme XM-150; gas motorcycle moped as X-Treme XM-50; gas scooters as X-Treme XG 470 scooter and electric moped motorcycle as X-Treme XM-4000Li.

With the economic slow down and increased cost of gasoline, there is an increased demand for motorcycles. The traffic congestion and the ability of motorcycles to get through the traffic easily, more people are opting for thee motorcycles. The manufacturers are responding to this demand with newer designs and models with a variety of features.

A scooter is a motorcycle with step-through frame, a foot board and protective leg shield. Scooter has smaller wheels amongst the various categories of motorcycles. Scooters are sub categorized as gas scooters, electric scooters, mobility scooters, motorized scooters, and kick scooters.

The most common scooters in the market and on the road are the gas scooters. Their engines are powerful and range from 50cc to as much as 250cc. There is the classic step-through frame as well as the sportier looking scooters. Some are meant for city driving while others are designed for highway driving. Scooters have a better mileage than other vehicles with up to even 75 miles per gallon. They are easily maneuverable and need little space for parking. Mobility scooters are designed to enable the handicapped and the elderly to move around in the neighborhood safely and slowly. They have a speed ranging from 5 to 10 miles per hour. Scooters specially designed for the teenagers are the motorized scooters. Their engines are smaller of 50cc or lesser. These are called mopeds, segways, stand-up or gas scooters and seated scooters. These scooters have a lower traveling range of 5 to 20 miles and speed ranging from 8 to 20 miles per hour. But these are trendy. These are less expensive and have a better gas mileage. Kick scooters or Push Scooters are meant for kids. These have no engines and are the most eco-friendly. They have a push and glide motion where the legs are used for pushing. These can be taken to school and easily transported. They are also very cheap.

Another class of scooters is the electric scooters. They do not use gasoline and instead run on battery motors. Electric scooter owners need no longer be worried about the increase in gas price. Electric scooters comes in a variety of models such as Vectrix VX-1, Eped Sport/City, E-Solex, ZAP Zapino,E300S Razor, Yo Speed, Peugeot Scoot’Elec, EVT-4000e, Ezip Electric Scooters and Io-scooter.

Electric scooters are eco-friendly with low emissions and noiseless. But its speed is lower and need to be recharged every now and then as it runs a shorter distance after each recharge. The battery has to be plugged in to recharge. Though costlier than gas scooters, some models are cheaper.

Scooters contribute a lot to people’s welfare. So, these must be given more priority than any other type of motorcycle.

When you buy a 50cc gas scooter you are getting into a vehicle that falls in between the vehicle category and the category classified as mopeds. Whether or not you are going to need a drivers license to operate one is going to vary from location to location as many countries and regions of the world classify them differently. Some of the countries in the EU will allow you to operate these scooters without a permit or license, but if you live in either France or Italy, you are going to be required to carry the minimum of a car drivers license to operate any "vehicle" up to 125cc. There has not been a lot of legislation on the subject of scooters, so no one has actually completely defined any concrete rules and regulations governing the use of such transportation.
Post from: choppernutz.com

50cc Gas Mopeds Can Get You Around Town Just Fine

50cc scooters have an engine size that classifies small motorcycles at the limit between the vehicle category or mopeds class. Whether or not you are going to need a drivers license to operate one is going to vary from location to location as many countries and regions of the world classify them differently. For instance, in some EU countries you can ride such motorcycles without a driving license, but the exceptions here are France and Italy, where you need at least the car driving license to operate vehicles up to 125cc. There is quite a big level of legal ambiguity for the definition and classification of scooters.

Since these scooters are not considered motorcycles, the registration fees for them are a lot less than for larger motorcycles. In most instances, this classification can only be applied to engines that are larger than 50cc.

An in-between definition or class has been created by some jurisdictions: thus, between 50 and 150cc, vehicles are referred to as motorized bikes. Other countries don’t even wish to bother with the multiple classes and have defined anything that has a 50cc motor or larger a motorcycle. Hence, the terms of such a vehicle classification vary from state to state and cannot be discussed interchangeably, and you need to research these things before buying.

As for technical features 50cc scooters are among the smallest and best used designs because of the low costs, the reduced fuel consumption and the possibility to be used by teenagers and adults alike. As many of these are very attractive looking, people consider them a fine alternative to public transportation.

These scooters make it very easy to maneuver around traffic that is backed up, which makes them a real boon to people who hate to get stuck in traffic. Even if they have a small cylinder capacity, 50cc scooters have four stroke engines with a high performance for various mobility and transportation purposes.

Most of the smaller 50cc models possess some of the same qualities of larger versions as the manufacturers mast generally keep the same styling for all of their scooters. As a result you will find most models with handy storage under the seat, sporty exhaust pipes and brakes, and both kick and electric start models.

Before you run off and purchase one of these scooters, make sure that you understand all of the regulation surrounding them including licensing and registration requirements in your locality, warranty information, limitations, and the fuel requirements. If you are thinking of a larger model these tips hold true for them as well.

by Ben Blackburn

When many people decide they want to get a scooter, they first think that they want something that will work well on surface streets and will not necessarily get up to dangerous speeds like a 150cc or larger scooter would. Many people decide that a 50cc scooter would really be ideal for their situation after a little bit of research, and they then set off to purchase their scooter. After making their purchase, many people end up regretting their decision for one reason or another.

After selling hundreds of scooters at our retail location over the past year our business has been open, I have discovered that there are lots of things that people don’t consider when purchasing a scooter. Many of these things become very apparent in the days following their purchase after it’s too late to reverse the decision. I would like to outline a few things you need to know when investigating your scooter purchase options.

50cc scooters will really only go 35 mph, even though many shop owners say that they can get up to 45 mph. If you weigh over 150 lbs, you are likely to not be able to get over 40 even on a steep downhill. When it comes to steep uphills, you may not even be able to get over 25 to 30 mph. forget about keeping up with traffic and staying out of the way of other cars that will be keeping up with the speed limit, because it’s pretty much impossible.

If you plan to drive on slower roads or even just roads that don’t have a lot of traffic, a 50cc scooter is a cheaper option than almost any 150cc scooter and can be a better choice for you. Even though 50cc scooters are unable to reach high speeds, they are often exactly what you want to have to get around town. The most important thing is that you are aware of its limitations before you make your purchase.

One thing to also consider is your state licensing requirements. In addition to vehicle licensing requirements, many states do not require drivers of scooters under a certain size to have a special motorcycle endorsement in order to ride. This of course can save a lot of time and hassle. You can be sure that a 50cc scooter costs less to keep registered at the DMV than almost any larger scooter or motorcycle as well.

With respect to the level of quality of many 50cc scooters, you should also be careful what brands you purchase. The 50cc scooters that tend to have the fewest problems are from a Chinese manufacturer such as Lance, KMD, and Fly, or anything from Europe, Taiwan, India. They usually come with a much better warranty and tend to last A LOT longer. Chinese scooters are usually the cheapest of all of those scooters. Having sold lots of 50cc scooters out of our shop in Provo, Utah, I can say that the absolute cheapest chinese 50cc scooters are really not worth your money, no matter how cheap they are. They tend to have a lot more electrical problems than larger 150cc scooters do, and they also quite often many of the engine components are not made to last.

If you are thinking about purchasing a 50cc scooter soon, just make sure to take everything into account before you make your decision. Are you making sure that the scooter you are interested in has a solid warranty and is a reputable company with good quality control? Are you going to be able to get around licensing requirements? Are you going to be able to keep up with traffic on the streets where you plan to drive? If you are able to keep track of all of these things, you should be able to make the correct decision and be very happy with your purchase.

It is no secret that the price of gasoline has climbed to almost intolerable levels. This has caused financial hardship to many families who have to commute to and from work every day. Cars have become a luxury in many places and in a lot of major world cities from New York to Calcutta, commuters are becoming more innovative in the way they save on the high gas prices. One of the ways they are doing this is to purchase scooters.

There are many different types of scooters. There are the foot-powered which are preferred by teenagers and children for playing, then there are the electric-powered which are modern and require no gasoline. Then there are the gas-powered scooters which have gained in popularity.

Scooter have been around since the 1920s. They first appeared in the Far East then they took up residence in the West where the technology evolved to produce even better models. Today, it is not uncommon to see in many cities, thousands of day workers riding to and from using scooters. This has saved tremendously.

Gas scooters are especially preferred today because they do away with the necessity of expensive gasoline. The technology behind gas scooters has evolved in the last 10 years. A gas tank is mounted on the base of the scooter and the gas is pumped into an combustion chamber which burns the gas thereby releasing the pressure that causes the engine motion. Gas scooters can mount speeds of up to 100 miles an hour.

Gas scooters, just like the rest of the scooters have their inherent advantages. One of them as we mentioned is the fuel efficiency. People are looking for ways saving on gasoline. This is because of the high prices that are prevalent in almost every major world city.

Gas scooters are also cute. That is why other than their fuel efficiency, which definitely attracts many because of the state of the world economy, scooters are still a hot selling item among the younger generation. In the US, people mostly buy scooters for recreational purposes. During good weather such as summer, many people get on their scooters and use them to commute for short to medium distances. Picnics are also places where it is easy to see gas scooters.

Gas scooters also continue to attract many because they are affordable. In places like the US, most people can afford a car. But in third world nations and other emerging nations, this is not the case. Many workers are faced with long commutes and no reliable transportation. The public transportation is crowded and sometimes unsafe. Scooters are definitely one great way of resolving this situation. They are far less pricey as compared to cars and are therefore well within the reach of many medium income workers.

In places plagued by long traffic jams, gas scooters are also ideal because one can easily manuever. There is no longer any need to wait behind a long stream of cars. One can easily manuever through traffic and get to their destination faster.

Motor scooters are essentially the small vehicles with small wheels and a low-powered gasoline engine mounted towards the rear of the vehicle. Towards the end of the 19th century and the advent of the 20th, technology was emerging which made it possible to create motorized scooters. But the early versions were still powered by human strength.

The scooter technology can be attributed to a company in Shanghai where a gentleman by the name of Gino started working on the technology. He did this in response to the long commute hours which he found hinself engaged in. It took him over 5 years to perfect the engineering..

The motivation behind this invention was the long distances which Gino Tsai claims to have traversed every single day. These trips were actually made to the Razor motor factory where he worked as a mechanical engineer.

You can imagine the impact that the new design had especially in a country which was just then entering the Industrial Age with millions workers needing to get to and from work. The scooter sparked such interest that Gino reported being inundated with orders to the extent that he was backed up for months!

There were a few reasons why the motor scooter was popular at its onset. One reason is that it is lightweight. The scooter, especially the Razor, was made out of aluminum which has been known to be very versatile. That is why it is used in the manufacture of airplanes. This meant that the scooter could be operated by anyone regardless of their strength.

The scooter was also attractive and convenient. This was because it was patterned after a bicycle which people were already familiar with. It had small wheels and could be easily cranked up by means of a “clutch” on the side of the scooter. The engine was also smaller as compared to other motorcycles which allowed for easier maintenance.

There are many different types of scooters today. Some are gas powered and others electric powered. These serve different purposes as well because they are very versatile. Because of their motorcycle-like pattern, they are popular even though they have smaller wheels. Their engines are also, lower-powered engines unlike the motorcycle.

One of the most common type of scooter is the version that can be folded. These need not possess an engine and have only two-wheeled models. They are therefore used for traveling short distances. Their mechanism is also easy to decipher with the process of braking being located on the rear fender. Young adults and also children are especially fond of this type mostly because it is sleek, fun, cheap and easy to store.

Then there is the electric scooter which uses a battery-powered engine. This is usually heavier and larger. They are also known to consume more power. Their popularity stems from the fact that they are automated although the folding scooters have been known to travel longer distances. The electric cooker can go distances of between 10 or 15 before the need to recharge the battery.

In the 1920s, most parts of the world were undergoing the changes resulting from the industrial revolution. Countries like Britain, France and the United States had already made giant strides in this field. Other parts of the globe like the Far East were also experiencing an industrial re-awakening of their own. Taiwan is one of these countries. Today, it is one of the leading exporters of manufactured goods to the rest of the world. One of Taiwan’s leading contributions to the industrial revolution is the scooter. This was a product of an engineer called Gino Tsai, who worked for the J.D. Corporation.

The first scooters were foot powered. This means they were not motorized. The technology to motorize the scooters actually emerged later. Gino’d motivation was basically to get to work on time. In these early days of the industrial revolution, numerous factories were being created which required labor. Most people in these times lived in the rural areas and had to commute long distances to get to work. Every morning saw long streams of day workers walking to their jobs and back home again. Gino’s invention was geared to alleviate this and that is why the scooter became a popular buy.

Today, scooters have revolutionized the way people commute. A cross between a bicycle and a regular motor cycle, today’s scooters, while still resembling their earlier counterparts, are motor powered. In many major world cities, the scooters are one of the most major ways of getting around. This is because cars are still too expensive for the average worker and the income per capita is still low. Let us examine the reason behind the buzz that is sweeping the world regarding motor scooters.

Fuel Efficiency The recent global economic crisis has become an item of focus for many people. This has been caused by the high price gasoline. Gasoline is the lifeline of many world economies and this increase in price has caused financial hardship for many. It is no longer uncommon to see people looking for new and innovative ways of saving money especially in the area of commuting. Motor scooters are a sure way to do this. Their fuel efficient nature is one of the best ways of cutting down on the cost of commuting.

Cheap to maintain Scooters are easier to maintain than motor vehicles. It is not a secret that a motor vehicle can easily cost hundreds of dollars to repair when it breaks down. Motor scooters are easy to maintain because their mechanical configuration is simpler. The total sum of its parts is also much less than those of a motor vehicle. This means that workers with a low income and who cannot afford to buy and maintain a car can easily afford a motor scooter.

Convenient Scooters are very convenient. This means that if you live in a city with a traffic problem, a scooter can be ideal especially when it comes to manuevering your way through traffic. That is why cities which experience issues with traffic have a large number of motor scooters.

In the realm of alternative transportation, it is hard to ignore the moped. A moped is essentially a bicycle-like with bearing two wheels at the back and one at the front. They can either be peddled and therefore powered by human strength or be powered by battery or gas.

Because of safety concerns, most mopeds are restricted to travel only around 50 mph. This is because in rough or uneven terrain, mopeds tend to tip over and this has been attributed to many serious injuries and even death. This has caused many governments especially in the United States to step in and issue legislation that governs their manufacture, sale and use.

Mopeds have become popular especially in the US. This is because they accrue several advantages. One is the fact that they can traverse difficult terrain. In the case where people are searching for something or somebody who has been reported lost, mopeds are usually used to get into places where travelling by car can be hazardous if not impossible. Take for instance in a case of a missing person. Mopeds have been known to play a crucial role in the search and retrieval of missing persons.

The cycle is actually an invention of one Derek Davis who thought to improve on the current styles of motor cycles and scooters. While his invention was received with mixed reactions and responses, the moped sensation created a significant buzz. In the UK, the technology was enhanced to create what we have today as the modern mopeds.

In the US, we see mopeds being used by adults and teens for recreational use. At beaches, the beach police uses them to drive through the beach and traverse large stretches of sand. This is because in this type of duty, the authorities need a way to move around slowly and also at relatively faster speeds without endangering people. The moped become the vehicle of choice for these types of assignments.

The military has also warmed up to mopeds. These are now used for military patrols in less dangerous areas especially where the terrain is not conducive to motor vehicles. That is why the US military has shipped thousands of mopeds to their troops stationed overseas.

The cycles also have a set of drawbacks. One of them is what we mentioned earlier. Mopeds, because of their overall design, tend to tip over easily especially if driven by an amateur who has not yet mastered the art of balance. Throw in uneven terrain and rocky territory and you have a disaster waiting to happen. Since mopeds have also become very popular with teens and the younger generation, they have been associated with numerous injuries and even deaths. This can resulted in the Federal Government stepping in to regulate their use and purchase.

Purchasing a moped is easy. They can be purchased at any motor cycle dealer. In places like the US, there are actually specialized moped dealers who sell nothing else. The Internet is also an excellent place to do market research before you make your purchase.

Scooters can be said to have made commuting for millions of people suddenly much easier. During the latter phase of the 19th century, when factories were coming up and thousands of people were commuting from the world’s rural localities into the cities, the problem of getting to and from work had to be addressed. The Far East which was just now entering into the industrialized realm, found that they had to find a way to commute. Scooters were the answer. These quickly evolved into the different types that we known today.

Today’s major cities in the world have ab acute traffic problem. There are too many cars and too many people trying to get to work and school all at the same time. In places like Jakarta and Calcutta, or others like Mexico City, this problem can be acute. It is therefore not uncommon to see hundreds of scooters in the cities’ streets.

Early scooters were foot powered but today’s versions are either electric powered or gas powered. The foot powered ones are still in existence but are used more for recreational purposes rather than commuting. For longer distances and for more reliable performance, electric scooters are ideal. These are also used for recreational purposes as well in many parts of the US.

Electric scooters work by means of a battery-powered engine which is mounted inside the hull of the cycle. There is ample leg room at the center of the bike and the handle bars are not as pronounced as their counterparts the regular motor cycles.

The scooters have become very popular in many parts of the world. One of the reasons is because people are looking for alternative ways of saving money on motor fuel. It is not a secret that gasoline and petrol prices have been escalating in recent times. This has caused undue financial stress on many workers especially middle income workers. The result has been fewer motor sales and fewer commutes using motor cars. Other have been looking for alternative ways to save on gasoline. One of these ways has been to get electric scooters.

Electric scooters have become very efficient and easy to maintain. Unlike the motor car, the cost of maintaining an electric engine is significantly lower than that of a motor car. It is not unheard of for a motor vehicle repair bill to reach astronomical heights. A $500 to $3000 repair bill is not uncommon. These numbers are unheard of with an electric scooter.

In the US, electric scooters have also become somewhat of a fad. From teens to grown ups, the scooters have become an excellent recreational item. During summer months when the weather permits, the scooters can become great ways of moving small to medium distances. Whether it is at the beach or around your local neighborhood, the scooters are spotted by kids and teens alike. In the past, scooters were relegated to the elderly who would use them for small distance commuting. It is still a great way for disabled people to get around.

There are different types of scooters; those that are powered by human power (foot-powered), electric scooters and gas scooters. The technology that powers scooters has evolved greatly in the last few decades. Scooters first emerged in Taiwan in the 1920s. They were invented as a response to the Industrial revolution which was sweeping through this part of the world. Many workers were commuting to work by foot and public means and this was not convenient at all.

In the West, scooters have been used primarily for commuting for short distances and also for recreational purposes. Other parts of the world use them primarily for commuting to and from every place. Because of the shaky world economy and the high gas prices in many parts of the world, many working class people have been hurting. Car prices have also been climbing making cars unaffordable for many working class people in many Third World economies and emerging economies. The advent of gas scooters have become a welcome phenomenon in many places as they are both affordable and easy to maintain.

Gas scooter technology has become sharper and more innovative in the last decade. Scooters have had a humble beginning, starting off as foot-powered then pedal-mechanism engines. Today, gas scooters are much prefered because they can save on the high price of gas. Let us look at why they are popular:

Affordability Gas scooters are popular because they are quite affordable by many standards. In many countries, the prices of cars are not within the reach of the middle cars. This is also because of the state of the world economy. Scooters are an altenative which is not only affordable but easier to maintain. It is now possible for middle class workers to afford scooters to commute to and from work.

Fuel efficient Because the scooters use gas as their primary fuel, there is no need to worry about the price of gas. This is a welcome relief because the high prices of gasoline have been especially high. Many families have been reporting financial hardship due to this and have been seeking altenatives. One of the best altenative to gasoline is gas scooters.

Cute Other than the aspect of fuel efficiency and affordability, gas scooters are also cute in appearance. They have been modeled as a cross between a bicycle and a regular motor cycles but with a twist. They have more roomy middle part and more leg room. In their earlier days, scooters were thought to be only popular with the older generation. But in recent times, the younger commuters have been purchasing scooters at a breathtaking rate. This is because they can suffice for short distance commutes and outdoor recreational gatherings. In the summer months, scooters can be especially ideal for transportation.

Scooters have some disadvantages. One of them is that they cannot be used for long distances. Another discomfort is that they cannot be ideal when the weather is bad. During rainy or stormy days, it is a great inconvenience to commute with a scooter especially if you need to stay dry.
