Even the mane sounds a bit strange : police car auctions. Just by saying police car auctions we get a couple of chills. Some think they are selling cars that belonged to the police, cars that have POLICE written all over. People tend to think these auctions are selling only used police cars, because of the name. When people hear this term, they immediately imagine a big parking place with lots of police cars that are for sale. Others think that in these auctions they sell cars that belonged to bandits, cars with bullet holes, cars that were murder scenes and god knows what other horrible things people suspect. While any of the horrible, yet plausible statement above can be true in about 3% of cases, cars that belong to the remaining 97% have a totally different story behind them.
Post from: choppernutz.com

What Is A Police Car Auction?

Even the mane sounds a bit strange : police car auctions. Just by saying police car auctions we get a couple of chills. Some think they are selling cars that belonged to the police, cars that have POLICE written all over. People tend to think these auctions are selling only used police cars, because of the name. When people hear this term, they immediately imagine a big parking place with lots of police cars that are for sale. Some people when think that these cars were crime scenes or other part of offer terrifying events. In about 3% of cases, these improbable statements are true, but there still are 97% of cars that do not fit into these descriptions.

The police cars that are out of legal function, but are running perfectly still can get auctioned. But these cars won’t be given away with police colors, stickers and inscription. These cars will get a new paint and will be stripped of all stickers and other police inscriptions. The auctioned police cars come from extra sticks, or because of stock renewing. Since they are not trying to regain an investment or recover some unpaid credits, the cars will sell for anything they get offered. This explains the very low prices everyone is talking about. Even present buyer know this, and try to do as much as they can to keep prices low. New buyers are advised not to bid over 50% of the real value of a car. Keeping the prices in line will benefit the entire auction.

The police also auctions cars that belonged to convicted people that have no possibility of paying for affiliated car payments, or cars that have been impounded for various reasons. Sometimes, even cars that were not entirely paid for are sold by the police. Cars that are new but not entirely paid for can be also sold. New cars that weren’t successfully paid can also be sold in these auctions. These cars are usually as good as new, and their prices will be a little bit higher that those of the firstly mentioned cars. These new cars will have prices that are a bit higher. Because they are practically as good as new, they will register bigger selling prices. Even if the price is higher, it will not reach real value. You can find lots of things at low prices, but you probably won’t find a Razor scooter promodel.

So, the main idea is that by going to a police car auction you could be walking away with good low priced cars.

Police car auction can constitute a good business starting point for anyone who has the earning to invest a little in the beginning.

Interesting Tidbit: For great beneficial buying activities, look at http://IDCARDPRINTERS.org and see info on (a) ID card printer.

If you are thinking about buying used cars then begin by doing a thorough planning. You need to look at it from different angles and consider many things before you actually lay your hands on a good car. Buying a new car may be an easier task but the element of affordability makes buying a second hand car a better deal for many of us.

The foremost thing is that one should make up his mind on which model of car to buy. We all have varied expectations, and it is no different when buying a car. Many things drive our expectations like how much we can stretch our budget, our driving habits etc.

More the number of factors we consider while buying a car, the more will it narrow down our search. This helps a lot while deciding the best among a few. Always make it a point that you opt for a model which is as recent as possible when choosing a particular car. The age of cars is an important factor which should be considered.

Always consider taking a test drive so as to ascertain if the car is running in perfect condition. This is quite an important step. Test driving should be preferably done on different road conditions and should be for at least 4 to 5 km. Make sure the engine does not make any creaking sound while driving. A professional test drive is always recommended.

The next step is to verify that the speedometer as well as the mileage recorder works properly. Also if the steering is vibrating it would mean that there may be something wrong with the vehicle. Once all these things are checked then make sure that you verify the documents in order to ensure that the car has been bought from an authorized dealer or a rightful owner.

Check every possible detail before a second hand car. Earlier only the international sites had a provision for these kinds of services. But now times are changing and people from different parts of the country are making use of such kinds of services within their legal jurisdiction.

The internet is a good starting point and it has turned out to be a good ground for buying or selling of new cars as well as used ones. Buying online always turns out to be a better option with all the offers and discounts available. Comments from prospective customers help a lot on a particular decision.

Buy online if you want to get away from all the frustrating situations. Many people make use of the internet as it is quite easy. Searching for the right cars according to your need has just become easier. Sometimes people even end up buying online without actually looking at the cars first. However, it is a better idea to check the car in real, to determine flaws if any, before actually buying it.

Websites which deals with the business of buying and selling of used cars take up almost all the responsibility from the client. They take up all the aspects of a deal and even look into things like insurance, accessories and other things of importance. Buying these types of cars is a good option if you have other plans like further modification and accessorizing.

If you are looking into purchasing a new or used car remember to check all of the insurance rates. To do this contact an auto insurance company or request and online auto insurance quote today and get the best rate for your vehicle.

When one considers the vast list of all the inventions and technological improvements in the history of mankind, it is a pretty amazing thing to consider. No one can actually say what was the most important invention ever, but certain devices immediately jump to most minds. One such device would be the invention of the car. It makes sense for so many people to have their own mode of transportation, and this is why many must consider the affordable solution of used cars.

It is amazing to consider just how useful a car is. Buses and trains are great too, but they can be unreliable, and one must still get to the actual location where they will pick a person up. Furthermore, if one has to carry many heavy things, they may not be able to use public transportation. This is why so many people are into the idea of owning their own vehicle to rely on.

If most humans had as much money as they wanted, almost everyone on the planet would probably own their own car. But these machines can be very expensive, which is why many people do not own them. The second that a person buys a brand new car and drives it off the lot, it seriously declines in its value. This is why other methods for purchasing must often be considered and investigated.

There is a stigma to the word used that is not rational, logical, or sane. There is nothing wrong with purchasing and using something second hand. Actually, it makes a lot of sense because the item can be checked up on. It will come with a real reputation that can be investigated. A new item has never been tested, and thus it takes a lot of trust to buy it and expect it to last a long time.

Anyone today can use the internet to perform all sorts of great searches in order to select the right car to buy. They can perform a background check and discover who has owned the vehicle, and what sort of services they performed on it to maintain it. One cannot do this with a new car, which is actually sort of odd, if one thinks about this with proper perspective. It may actually be less of a risk to buy an already driven car with the internet than to buy a new one.

As previously mentioned, the rate of decline in the value of a new car is basically absurd. A used vehicle is quite the opposite case, as it will only slightly decline in value. This means that many savvy people can buy an already driven car that is new to them every few years, rather than trying to afford a new car every ten or twenty years.

And many humans today are increasingly concerned with the environment. It is good to reuse things and to purchase large items second hand. It is wasteful to abandon a perfectly well running automobile to a junkyard, just because one is bored with it. It should instead be sold to someone in need who will still use it.

So many people are now realizing the safety and reliability of purchasing used cars. Great deals exist, and one can be very choosy and informative in this process. This system has also been in place for almost one hundred years, which means that it is pretty dependable and reliable, which makes it cost effective.

If you are looking into purchasing a new or used car remember to check all of the insurance rates. To do this contact an auto insurance company or request and online auto insurance quote today and get the best rate for your vehicle.

Step 1

Change your oil regularly. If you don’t change your oil often enough your car will start to lose valuable lubrication and result is damage to your engine and eventually your car breaking down. Changing your oil every five thousand miles should suffice. Motor oils have improved in quality and the age old three thousand change is no longer the stigma.

Step 2

Replace your tires on your car when threading disappears. Your tires will gradually start to wear out and lose tread the more you drive. Driving on “bald” tires can cause you to hydroplane and can even cause you to wear out your rotors which are insanely expensive to replace than tires. Be sure to extend your tire life by rotating them. Depending on your vehicle you should change out the tires before all the threading is totally depleted.

Step 3

Drive responsibly. Street-racing won’t just wear out your tires in a hurry, it will also take quite an expensive toll on your brake pads and rotors. Also, not being careful and hitting curbs with your car can easily throw off your alignment. Slamming the brakes last minute will wear you brake pads down, so be sure to keep a safe distance and brake easily.

Step 4

Check your power steering fluid, brake fluid, and transmission fluids regularly. Don’t wait till your next oil change to get them check out. Replace them yourself if you need to. check your user manual if you are not sure what goes where. It is a fairly simple process and can save your car a lot of wear and tear.

Step 5

Keep a safe distance from other vehicles. A Small rock thrown from the back seat of a tractor trailer at a million miles an hour can crack your windshield. Don’t ride the draft. If you hear a rock hit your but don’t see a crack, get it checked out, there could be a small crack that will slowly make its way all over the windshield.

Also riding behind cars will get you in an accident sooner or later. It might not happen today or tomorrow, but it is inevitable if you trail. Its too risky to take the chance. Car accidents are the main factor in deterioration of a cars life.

Step 6

Get a Tune up! Check your cars maintenance manual for how often the vehicle needs to be tuned up and follow that guide to the T. Regular tune ups can help keep your car healthy for a longer span of time. This can save you a lot of frustration and give your car some expanded driving time.

Charlie Hernandez has owned several Car Dealerships in Houston, and has a long history of car maintenance. Check out his used cars Houston page for more info on taking care of cars and good used cars.

Any ride on a motorcycle is bound to be one of the greatest thrills you may ever experience. Very different from the sheltered environment of a regular vehicle, a motorcycle allows you to feel the power of the engine directly below you and you can’t get much closer to the earth beneath you either. With a good set of Dunlop motorcycle tires for a smooth ride, no other experience can compare.

It is also an experience that can end your life when the proper caution is not used. By making safety your top priority as a motorcyclist, you can keep yourself and other motorists on the road free from harm by following this list of safety tips.

1. Consistently make sure your tires are inflated properly If you want to get the most out of your tires for as long as time as possible, you want to fill your tires to the suggested air pressure that is imprinted on the tires. In the case that more than one tire pressure is indicated, you should go by the top number.

Good tire pressure helps you to maintain control while operating your motorcycle. Under-inflated tires are a hazard; but the good news is that checking your tire pressure on a regular basis will help you to recognize when your tires have naturally lost some pressure, and you can increase the pressure to a safer degree.

2. Always test your brake lever to ensure that the brakes are functioning properly. The lever should never get within less than half an inch to your grip, this will help prevent something from snagging on it or otherwise impairing your ability to stop. On the other hand, a lever that moves too far may indicate air in the brake fluid. Any of the above problems should be corrected before attempting to ride.

3. Do not allow distractions to steal your focus. Even something as seemingly insignificant as listening to the radio can become a safety hazard when driving in conditions that require good focus, such as during bad weather or in heavy traffic.

4. Riding in a group can make for a great trip, just keep your sites on the lead bike and maintain a safe riding distance between you and the bike in front of you. Too short a distance between bikes, or getting out of sync with your riding party can both result in accidents – some of which could be fatal.

Of course, you should take the time to learn everything you can about motorcycle riding, since this article can’t possible cover all essential safety topics. Beginners should sign up and go through a motorcycle riding course prior to getting on their bikes.

Many people have been in a minor auto accident or ‘fender bender’ at some point in their driving lives. This is very common. It is best to have auto insurance so a minor accident does not become a major deal.

You have to make sure you know what to do and what not to do after an accident, though. You can get stressed after you’ve had an accident and say or do the wrong thing. You can also forget to get the needed information and cause yourself trouble that way. It’s important to know what to do before you find yourself in that situation.

First, so long as no one is hurt, move the cars out of the road. This is very important especially if the accident happened in an intersection.

You don’t want to cause more accidents by blocking the roadway. Leaving your car in the middle of an intersection can cause more accidents and injuries. Before you start to move the cars, though, be sure to turn on hazard lights.

The second thing to remember is that you need to call the police. In some areas, police will show at even minor accidents and write up an accident report, while in other areas there must be injuries for police to come to the scene. Regardless, call the police and see if they will send someone. Having an accident report can make filing a claim with your auto insurance much easier.

Here is the most vital step to remember: you must exchange information with the other driver. Each of you needs the other party’s name, phone number, insurance carrier, policy number driver’s license number, and license plate number. It is also a good idea to get some details on the other vehicle, such as make, model, year and color.

While you are exchanging information don’t make small talk. It’s too easy to say the wrong thing. Don’t apologize for anything or admit fault in any way. Let the police determine who is at fault.

If you have a camera or camera phone, get out and take some pictures of the vehicles. Try to get shots of both, including the damage done, and get a few shots of the cars’ position in relation to each other. Then when you leave the scene of the accident, call your insurance company and report the accident and provide all of the relevant details they request.

It’s lashing rain down. Night closed in hours ago and the torrential weather is pure El Nino. The humid day has given way to a wet and windy night as the Impreza’s headlights struggle to penetrate the darkness, lightning a perilous path home.

Welcome to the Impreza GX. This model won’t get even half the attention of its limelight-basking WRX big sister. Yet the GX represents a greater improvement over the car it replaces than does the WRX. Let’s just say that the GX contributed more than any other model to the Impreza range.

Blessed with a whole raft of changes, both underneath and cosmetically, the Impreza GX offers plenty. It now stands alone as the entry level Impreza, filling the gap where the LX once sat. Anti-lock brakes, in-dash CD player cruise control, driver and passenger airbags and driver’s seat height adjustment are all standard, with sports seats and sports suspension also thrown into the mix.

On paper, the GX should stick to the road like kids stick to their version of the truth. It does better. The firmness of the ride can be harsh on the smaller lumps and bumps, but it doesn’t cause discomfort. Think WRX ride quality and tone it down just a fraction. The GX feels dynamically secure, too, tracking sweetly across bad roads and maintaining a neutral handling balance.

The steering is direct and nicely weighted with good feedback. The pronounced side bolstering of the front seats holds you tighter than a drunk accountant on a Friday night.

For your money, the Subaru GX offers an impressive package that, this time around, has taken more than a few cues from its big sister. And it’s a much better car for it. Big sisters aren’t all bad either.

Why not try it yourself.

For many motorcycle riders, the appeal of motorcycles is in the real sense of freedom, of just you and the highway, but there may come a time when you want to be able to communicate with other riders, a passenger or just enjoy some good road music. This requires you check out bluetooth motorcycle headsets.

The motorcycle headset, which provides you with the communications you’ll need, in crisp, clear sound. There are many headsets that provide static free sound and reception, and some now include Bluetooth as well.

Depending on the type of headset you need and the features you want, you’ll find there are basic headsets of simple tubes all the way up to serious electronic components that enhance the sound. Older designs are usually less expensive and are not dependent on a separate battery or power source, so you won’t have to worry about losing communications before you reach your destination. These systems are very basic and include a microphone that’s placed near your mouth and an earpiece that receives transmissions; the advantages are no batteries that might die and no electronic components that might go on the fritz.

A wired headset is a step up from the tubes and allows both the passenger and the driver to be connected to a central unit through a wiring system. The sound from this type of headset is usually much more clean and can be raised or lowered for each person, though the wires that connect the system to the bike need to be connected and disconnected every time you step on or off the bike. Wired headsets can also be used to talk to other bikers.

The wires for the earpiece and microphone are placed along your arm and then plugged into the appropriate jack on the bike. The unit for sending messages is attached to a belt or waistband, just like a standard cell phone case. Wired headsets will work with either open faced or closed helmets, but for the best sound, you should make sure it comes with noise canceling technology.

When in the market for a motorcycle headset, it is wise to try on different styles and systems and choose one that is the most comfortable to wear. You may be able to get by with a less expensive model if you only plan on using it now and then, like on a ride to the beach during nice weather.

However, if you are a more serious biker, and plan on using your headset often, including during inclement weather, you may decide to choose a waterproof version. There are many different models to choose from and many different options, such as headsets with two earpieces instead of one, or models that offer voice recognition and activation, with automatic shutoff during disuse.

Keeping your car's tires maintained is a task that is usually dismissed by car owners.

Keeping your car’s tires maintained is a task that is usually dismissed by car owners. Instead of upgrading to a set of say Fuzion tires most people as long as they are not flat, are content to just leave them and not pay much attention to them.

But take a moment to think about this: the tires are the only part of your car that actually comes into contact with the road, this makes them extremely important when it comes to safety. When you’re looking to buy a new set of tires you really need to take the style of tire into consideration. Not to mention that if you know what the right kind of tire is for your car you’ll be able to quickly replace them should you ever suffer a blowout or other issue.

Learning which tires are the proper tires for your vehicle means that you will need to do a bit of research. To begin with, find out the size tires your car takes. To determine this info, you can simply locate the numbers on the side of the tires that are on your vehicle right now. You will see the serial number and the size of the tire in inches.

Most cars will use 13 to 17 inch tires, trucks and SUVs tend to use a slightly larger size of about 22 inches. The size is important so that it fits the rims and wheel wells that control your tires.

The internet is a good place to start when you want to compare brands. There are also a number of consumer product testing websites out there that can help you find the most durable and reliable brand of tire. You can usually rely on your local auto center to have the type of tire you need in stock, or at least know where you can go to get it. You could also speak to an auto mechanic that you trust and get his or her opinion on which style of tire would be best for your vehicle.

Once your new tires are installed you need to make sure that you maintain them properly. Regular tire rotations are a must, you should do this every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or can choose to do so whenever you have your oil changed.

Tire rotations safeguard that your treads work evenly, thus providing you with an extremely strong grip on the road. You should look over your tires every now and then, as well. Watch out for any protruding lumps or protuberances in the rubber. These are indications that hint an old tire that needs replaced, or else it could result in a blowout.

Seth has written other articles in addition to tires. Be sure to check out either cheap SUV tires or 4×4 acessories!

Some people think that rising gas prices means that nobody drives or rides for fun any more. Car or motorcycle, the logic goes, it is just too expensive to be burning gas without needing to go somewhere. There are a few, though, who still do ride for fun.

Bill Olah, a 62-year-old motorcyclist and property manager, is one such rider. He lives in Milford, CT, and we caught up with him at the local CVS one afternoon in June. Mr. Olah had ridden his Yamaha Stratoliner to run an errand.

At this time, gas was at an all-time high. Still Mr. Olah said that he can ride for five hours a day on the weekends when weather permits. He doesn’t ride much during weekdays because of work.

On weekdays, Mr. Olah drives a Honda Accord. He says that there is a difference in gas mileage between the car and the motorcycle. The motorcycle was purchased two years ago for $17,000.

The mileage difference is notable. Mr. Olah says his Honda gets about 25 mpg, while the Stratoliner gets anywhere between 25-43 mpg. The higher mileage per gallon for the bike is for highway driving.

Gas prices are nothing to sneeze at in his area. In Connecticut, gas hovers at a high of $4.34 per gallon. If you are looking to save on gas, pennies can add up and eventually turn to dollars.

Mr. Olah reports that rising gas prices have not affected his riding habits. “It hasn’t influenced me, no,” Mr. Olah said about his motorcycle riding time.

Now, not everyone can afford such hobbies. Some people don’t have a second vehicle, or cannot afford leisure driving even with good gas mileage. Still, it is comforting to know that there are some like Mr. Olah who are still able to ride their motorcycles for fun.

For the rest of us bikers, we may need to consider a credit card as necessary equipment for rides, much as we consider our helmets!
